Break out your speed suits—The Ventures Bros. is back, baby! The animated show was sadly canceled in 2020 after seven seasons, reneging on the announcement that an eighth and final season was in the works. The end of the show made Season Seven’s final words—“The Venture Bros. will return”—seem like a cruel mockery. That mockery has transformed into joy, however, with the news that The Venture Bros. will, in fact, be coming back in a feature-length project. That feature is called The Venture Bros.: Radiant Is the Blood of the Baboon Heart, and it’s set to come out this July. To celebrate the announcement of the release date, Adult Swim put out a trailer for our enjoyment.
The trailer has a proper deep-voiced movie announcer, who promises many things, including the feature will be full of “half-assery” and “blow-uppery” moments. Yay!
Here is Radiant Is the Blood of the Baboon Heart’s official synopsis:
A nationwide manhunt for Hank Venture leads to untold dangers and unexpected revelations, while The Monarch is literally out for Dr Venture’s blood. An imposing evil from the past reemerges to wreak havoc on the Ventures, The Guild, and even the Monarch marriage—it will take friends and foes alike to restore the Ventures’ world to order… or end it once and for all.
The movie is once again written by Venture Bros. creators Doc Hammer and Jackson Publick, with Publick directing. It sees the return of James Urbaniak (The Fabelmans) as Dr. Venture, Patrick Warburton (Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events) as Brock Samson, Michael Sinterniklaas (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) as Dean Venture, and creators Chris McCulloch and Doc Hammer as Hank Venture and Dr. Mrs. The Monarch, respectively.
And naturally the minds behind The Venture Bros. understand the importance of physical media, which means that not only can you get a digital version of The Venture Bros: Radiant Is the Blood of the Baboon Heart on July 21, 2023, BUT ALSO there will be a DVD/Blu-ray release on July 25.
Go Team Venture, indeed.
